September 12, 1937 – February 28, 2025
Monroe Jackson Easter, "Jack", peacefully passed away in Amelia, VA at the age of 87. Jack grew up on a family farm in Amelia, spent two years in the Army at Ft. Hood, Texas, then settled in the town of Midlothian, VA to raise a family. He worked as a Materials Engineer for the VA Dept of Transportation for 50+ years. He volunteered for many years at the Midlothian Volunteer Fire Dept and taught many new recruits to drive the fire trucks. He was an active member of the Epworth United Methodist Church family. Jack loved his family, friends, neighbors, and church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and working in his garden. He especially loved sharing his home-grown tomatoes with everyone. Jack is survived by his daughters Kim McGraw (Bob) and Jill Burke (Jeff) and his grandchildren Dylan and Jake McGraw. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Norma, his parents Joseph and Minnie, and his siblings Corbin, Rupert, Thelma Morris, and Donald. The family will receive visitors on March 2 from 2 - 4 PM at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home in Amelia Courthouse, VA. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on March 3 at Epworth United Methodist Church, 15941 S. Giles Rd, Amelia, VA 23002. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Epworth United Methodist Church at the address listed.
