Obituary

Commander Oscar Eduardo Brain entered heaven peacefully on May 4th, 2026.

Oscar was born November 20th, 1941, to Oscar Claudio Brain and Ana María Cánepa. At the age of 17, he entered the Peruvian Navy as an officer and spent 26 years in service to Peru. During this time, Oscar gained a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the U.S Naval Postgraduate School. Later, he led anti-communist efforts against communist-aligned President Juan Velasco Alvarado, with his efforts becoming successful years later. He ended his military career as the Peruvian Navy's Director of Computation.

He married Cecilia Velasquez on May 21st, 1987.

Oscar later continued his career in computer science, becoming an expert in compiler technology, which eventually led him to the United States. Oscar proudly became a U.S. citizen on February 19th, 2014.

In 1995, after experiencing many answered prayers, Oscar started a spiritual renewal taking a deep interest in biblical wisdom and healing. He gave his life to Jesus, and during his lifetime he was blessed to directly witness and experience many healings. In his later years, he would express a desire to go from an officer of the sea to a fisher of men.

Oscar is survived by his loving wife, Cecilia Brain; sister Raquel Brain; brother John (Karen) Jordan; children, Oscar Mauricio Brain, Cecilia Natalia Brain, Julieta Brain Vera, Juan Carlos Vera, Maria Cecilia Bogardus, Manuel (Julia) Brain, and Jonathan (Brittany) Brain; grandchildren, Sebastian (Erin) Vera, Isabella Vera, Amelia Baldini, Rebekah Brain, and Alexander Brain; and great-grandchildren, Samuel and Oliver Vera.
