Obituary

Patricia "Pat" Moore Gholson, 92, of Amelia passed away on August 4, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Lee Gholson, her parents, James and Mary Moore, her brother, James Moore II, and her sisters Ellen Robbins and Phyllis Woody. She is survived by her children, Danny (Sarah) Gholson, Lynne (Darrell) Parrish, Del (Peggy) Medlin, her grandchildren, Cory (Faith) Gholson, Jeremy (Jennifer) Gholson, Sara (Bobby) Huotari, James Wilson (Amanda) Parrish, and her great grandchildren, Sawyer Gholson, Jack Gholson, Marley Gholson, Silas Huotari, and Oliver Parrish.

Pat was born in Richmond, the youngest of four children. As a child she sang on WVRA on the Joe Brown show. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where she eventually met her husband and a group of friends affectionately known as the "Oak Grove Gang." She and Wilson raised their family in Richmond before moving to Amelia in the early 90s where they built the home where she would live the rest of her life. They served as members of Amelia Baptist Church for many years going on numerous mission trips, cooking many meals and founding a handbell choir. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for the last 22 years, where she continued her musicianship in the first Community Handbell Choir and Community Chorus. Pat maintained close relationships with cousins, nieces, and nephews, and spent much of her time supporting the endeavors of her family and friends. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Visitation will be held at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16416 Court St. in Amelia from 6-8:00pm on Friday, August 7. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 8. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 9061 Washington St., Amelia Court House, VA 23002, or the Uncle Wilson Ministry, 1427 Rockwater Bovd., North Little Rock, AR 72114, which was created in memory of the love of her life.
