Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Patricia Ford Nelson, who left this world peacefully on September 14, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on December 14, 1938, in Richmond, Virginia, Patricia was a cherished daughter, mother, wife, and a beloved friend to many. Her steadfast spirit and kind heart touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Patricia led a remarkable life, characterized by her strong work ethic and dedication. She spent her career as a Senior Gauge Inspector for Pratt and Whitney, also known as United Aircraft, for turbine engines. She was the first woman to work in the field. Her attention to detail and commitment to quality were revered by her colleagues. Throughout her life, Patricia embraced her family with unwavering love and support, standing as a pillar of strength for her parents, John and Maggie Ford, who both preceded her in death her along with her daughters Kim Booker, and Valerie Nichols. Patricia is survived by her beloved husband, Samuel Nelson, and children, Cheryl Anctil (Reece), Mike Nichols, Jeanine Werner (Brian), along with five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and her two dogs Ginger and Sky.

As we gather to honor Patricia's extraordinary life, we find comfort in the memories she leaves behind. Her legacy will live on through the values of kindness and integrity that she instilled in those around her.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday September 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Genito Presbyterian Church, 2910 Genito Rd, Powhatan, VA 23139, where family and friends will come together to celebrate Patricia's life and the profound impact she made on all of our hearts. The family will receive friends on Friday September 18, from 6-8:00 p.m. at the church.

In this time of remembrance, we invite all who knew and loved Patricia to join us in honoring her legacy, celebrating her life, and sharing stories that highlight the joyful moments and cherished memories. Patricia will be laid to rest, returning to the earth she loved, in a burial ceremony that reflects the warmth and love she shared throughout her time with us. The family wishes to extend thanks to Constellation Hospice for all the help and comfort they have brought the family in her final days, along with the members of Genito Presbyterian Church.

Patricia Ford Nelson will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as her spirit will continue to shine brightly in our lives. May she rest in peace.
