Mrs. Pearl Fleming Clifton, age 93, passed on January 10, 2024 at her home in Amelia County, Virginia. Pearl was born in Amelia County, to Mary West and Howard Fleming who preceded her in death, along with her husband of 66 years Richard O. Clifton, son Richard W. "Rick" Clifton, step-father H.P. Bennett, brother Roger Fleming, his wife Frances and their daughter Cynthia Lamb, son-in law Marcie "Gus" Guthrie and great-grandson Isaac Guthrie. Who will all be waiting on the other side for her.
She is survived by her sons Howard Michael Clifton (Linda), Danny Keith Clifton (Kathy), and daughter Sherry Clifton Guthrie; grandchildren Michelle Nguyen (Ly), Kim Clifton (Leigh Ann), Susan Newton, Andrew Guthrie (Nicole), Jennifer Slate (Shawn), Candice Merrick, Jonathan Clifton, Rusty Clifton (Chrystal), and Alexsandra Clifton; sister-in-law Penny Clifton of Danville, Virginia, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Pearl retired from Allied Signal after 28 years. Volunteer work became her passion at John Randolph Hospital in Hopewell, VA, where the gift shop was named after her, along with her membership in the Amelia Historical Society where she served as President.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, 16th of January, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St. in Amelia. Funeral services for Pearl will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 12:00 Noon at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home with Sam Mayo officiating. Burial will follow at Virginia Veteran Cemetery at Amelia at 01:00 PM, 10300 Pridesville Rd., in Amelia Court House, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Mt. Hope Baptist Church or the Amelia Historical Society.
