Obituary

Ray Allen Swearengin, age 74, passed peacefully at home on April 18, 2021.  He is survived by his wife of 56 years Joan Snead Swearengin; his sons Steven Wayne Swearengin, and Allen Edward Swearengin, all residing in Nottoway County. He is also survived by his sister Ruth (Brenda) Webster (Mel) and a host of cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father Allen Junior Swearengin, his mother Sybil Woods Hall, brother Gerald (Jerry) Everett Hall, and his daughter-in-law Kimberly Karol Swearengin.  Ray was an avid outdoorsman.  He spent countless hours hunting and fishing. As president of the Hard Luck Hunt Club for 35 years he took pride in fostering a safe environment for the members and thoroughly enjoyed passing the hunting tradition to the younger generation. Visiting will be held at Love Covenant Fellowship Church, 17897 W. Pridesville Rd. in Amelia, on Wednesday April 21, 2021 from 5-7:00 PM, and where funeral services will be held at 11AM on Thursday, April 22, 2021.  Burial will follow at the Amelia Presbyterian Cemetery, 16401 Dunn St. in Amelia.  The family will have a celebration of Ray's life following the services at the Amelia Veterans Center 16440 Five Forks Rd. Amelia, Va.
