In Loving Memory of Richard Leon Borum
Richard Leon Borum (Wheat), age 58, of Amelia County, Virginia, passed away on August 24, 2026, following a prolonged illness. Richard was born in Richmond, Virginia, to the late Harvey Borum and Nellie Cifers Borum. He was preceded in death by both of his parents. Richard was a hardworking man who found great joy in the simple things in life. He loved farming and took particular pride in growing his vegetable garden. He enjoyed sharing the fruits of his labor with his neighbors and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Richard frequently visited his sister, Judy, where he gladly helped with the tremendous amount of yard work. He had a generous spirit and could always be counted on when someone needed assistance. He also had a special talent for caring for cows and took great pride in his ability to look after them. In his free time, Richard loved fishing at Smith Mountain Lake and enjoyed going on cruises. His love of the outdoors, farming, animals, and helping others reflected the kind and giving person he was. Richard's memory will be cherished by his brother, Eugene Borum; his sister, Judy Lane (Stephen Lane); his nephew, Mark Borum (Stephanie Borum); and many other family members, neighbors, and friends who will remember him fondly. Richard will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His willingness to help others, love of the land, and generous heart will remain a lasting part of the memories he leaves behind. Service Information Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at Sandy Creek Baptist Church, followed by the funeral service at 12:00 noon. A graveside service will follow at Sandy Creek Baptist Church. May Richard rest in peace and may his memory continue to bring comfort to all who loved him.
