Richard O. Clifton, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed from this earthly life September 13, 2012. He was born December 26, 1925 in Danville, Va. to William C. Clifton and Viola Griffith Clifton both deceased; and, was residing in Amelia County, Va. at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years Pearl Fleming Clifton; sons, Howard M. (Michael) Clifton (Linda) and Col. Danny K. Clifton, USAF retired (Pria) and daughter Sherry H. Guthrie (Marcie), 8 grand children and 10 great grand children. He was predeceased by another son, Richard W. Clifton.

He served during WW II  in the US Navy as a signalman. After the War, he was employed as an electrician at Dan River Mills, Southern Railway, and finally retired from Honeywell in Hopewell, VA after 29 years of service.

Funeral services will be held at Hillsman - Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court St.  in Amelia Courthouse, Va. at 11AM on Tuesday September 18, with burial following in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held on Monday, September 17 ^th from 4pm until 7pm.
