Roland Zane McKinney, born in 1941, passed away on December 13, 2025, in Richmond, Virginia. He was the beloved son of Norvell and Auldine McKinney.

Originally from West Virginia, Roland later made his home in Amelia County, Virginia, where he built a life rooted in family, hard work, and community. A carpenter by profession and a jack of many other trades, he was admired for his skill, resourcefulness, and dedication. Roland lived a life full of simple joys and meaningful connections, finding happiness in hunting, bluegrass music, and camping-pursuits that reflected his love of the outdoors and the traditions he cherished.

Roland leaves behind his devoted wife, Janice McKinney; his children, James McKinney, Wesley McKinney, William McKinney, and Olivia Coada; his daughters-in-law, Dianna McKinney and Michele Pennison; his grandchildren, Hannah Pennison and Nicholas Wattler; his sister, Ofa Johnson; and brother-in-law, Aubrey Johnson. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Hilsman Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court Street, Amelia, VA 23002.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Amelia Emergency Squad.
