Sandra Handy, age 75 of Amelia, VA, passed away peacefully at home on June 11, 2022. Long known around Amelia and surrounding counties as the "Birthday Call Lady", she was the widow of Douglas M. Handy Sr. and preceded in death by her son Douglas M. "Butch" Handy Jr.; her parents Roy A. Inge and Florence B. Inge; brother William A. "Bill" Inge; sister Betty I. Aldrich; nephews Jerry A. Freeman, Terry Inge, David A. York, and Charles A. "Chuck" Inge.  She is survived by a brother Charles L. Inge of Crewe and her sisters Mary I. Freeman of Richmond, Doris I. Schnell of Crewe, Carolyn I. York of Blackstone and Nancy I. Presley of Crewe, numerous nieces and nephews along with her adopted family, daughter Lisa Stokes and grandchildren Scott Maranzano and Mekella Reid (Mark) and five great-grandchildren; she is also survived by her 2nd family, Dickie Handy of Amelia, Joan H. (Frank) Hastings of Amelia and Jean H. Lewis of Blackstone. The family will receive friends on Wednesday June 15 from 1-3:00 p.m. at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St. in Amelia. Funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m. with burial to follow in Rennie Memorial Cemetery.
