Shirley Ann Wright, age 75, of Amelia, passed from this life on June 19, 2024.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Venable Wright, Sr., her son Joseph Venable Wright, Jr., her daughter Donna Fisher, and her parents Willie Herman Bates and Lucille Newcomb Bates. She is survived by her daughter Michelle Trent of Norfolk, eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  Also survived by several nieces and nephew which includes her niece Rhonda Hammonds her caretaker.  Mrs. Wright was formerly employed by Thomasville Furniture Co. of Appomattox and Uni Royal Tire where she was employed for many years.  She was also an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys Football Team.  Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Monday June 24, 2024 at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court St. in Amelia with burial following in a private service at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery alongside her husband Joseph.  The family will receive friends and relatives prior to the service at the funeral home from 1-2PM.
