Flippen, Sophia Martin, age 89, of Chesterfield formerly of Amelia, passed from this life on August 20, 2016. She was an avid golfer and is preceded in death by her husband, Marion Garland "Chuck" Flippen and is survived by her daughter Barbara F. Jones of Chesterfield, sons, Bill (Anne) Flippen of Athens, Ga., and Kent (Holly) Flippen of Bowling Green, Va., six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, sister, Ruth Kidd of Amelia.  A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, August 23 at 11am at the Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St. in Amelia with a reception following the service at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions to Little Flock Church Cemetery Fund % Ralph Steele and Pat Steele 4800 Little Flock Church Lane Amelia, Va. 23002.
