Thomas Richard Lewis III (Trey) passed away peacefully on 12/22/2024 at 2:05pm at UVA hospital after a long battle against pulmonary hypertension, complications of pneumonia and lung transplant rejection. He leaves behind his mother, Lori Spain of Hanover, his father, Thomas Lewis Jr of Louisa., his sister, Kassidy Shaffer Jacobs of Fredericksburg, and grandmother, Louise Lewis of Bumpass. Trey was an avid gamer, YouTuber, cat lover, lover of Asian cuisine, his long hair and a friend to everyone he knew. He was an electronic genius, disassembling and rebuilding computers with ease. Trey was eleven years old when he was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension in 2018 and had a double lung transplant on January 11th, 2023 as a result of this diagnosis. Trey underwent numerous surgeries and hospitalizations throughout this six year battle. He never complained about his plight, he often would say that there are a lot of people "much worse than I am". There aren't enough words or paper to write about what a great person Trey was. To know him, was to love him. He will be missed every second of everyday and his memory will live on in our hearts. The family wishes to thank the medical staff of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the University of Virginia Medical Center for the excellent care they provided to Trey throughout his journey. The family would also like to thank the communities of Amelia and Louisa counties for the love, support, and prayers over the years. There will be a memorial service on 1/4/2025 at 12 noon, at Hillsman-Hix funeral home (16409 Court Street, Amelia Court House, Virginia). The family will receive friends at the home of Niki Spain Fitts on Daybreak Drive.
