Vera Nickels DeFreitas passed away on November 13, 2023. She is survived by her children, Edward DeFreitas (Patty), Paul DeFreitas (Debbie), Wayne DeFreitas (Leigh), Emilie Harlow (Ron), grandchildren Scott, David and Elizabeth DeFreitas, Davis and Kirby Harlow, and great-grandchildren Sloane, Elliot, Audrey and Quinn DeFreitas, and Remy and Desi Harlow. Born in Falls Church, Virginia in 1922, Vera was the widow of Edward Neville DeFreitas.They were married 64 years and made their home in Northern Virginia before moving to Richmond in 1984. In her last 17 years she was a resident at Lakewood retirement community, and had many dear friends and caregivers during her life there. Vera will be remembered as a kind, cheerful lady who loved the Lord and loved a good coupon. Private graveside service at Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia will take place. Memorial gifts may be made to the Lakewood Benevolence Fund, 1900 Lauderdale Dr., Henrico, VA 23238.
