Borum, Verlena, age 67, of Jetersville, was born in Haysi, VA on May 12th, 1958, to Claude S. Yates and Dora L. Yates, both of whom preceded her in death, as did her brother Curtis Yates. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years Jeffery L. Borum, along with her three daughters Heather N. Amiss (Sean Sr.), Stevie M. Heller, Megan L. Redman (Zachary); six grandchildren Amberleigh, Corbin, Sean Jr. Jaxon, Alaina, Austin, and her beloved pet Maxie. Five sisters, Carolyn Young, Joyce Yates, Darlene Tulbert (Steve), Verna Edwards, Dorene Yates, and one brother Dallas Yates. Lena served her community as a Communications Officer at the Amelia County sheriffs department for 5 years. Until her death she worked as the Floral Manager at Kroger where she spent her days creating beautiful floral arrangements. Lena had a passion for her three girls and her grandchildren and flowers. She was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church in Jetersville, VA. The family will receive friends from from 6-8 at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home in Amelia, VA on Tuesday June 17 th , 2025. A funeral service will be held at Sandy Creek Baptist Church on Wednesday June 18 th , 2025 at Noon internment to follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Burkeville, VA. In leiu of flowers the family request donations be made in her name to the Sandy Creek Baptist Church Building Fund for construction of the new sanctuary and/or The American Stroke Association. Reception to follow the burial at Sandy Creek Baptist Church.
