Vernon Matthew Worrell, age 65 of Amelia, passed away on August 9, 2019.  A father, grandfather and friend, he was a Sergeant in the US Army, he received the National Defense Service Medal, was a sharpshooter with the M16, and a Medal 1st Award Driver Mechanic.  He is survived by his wife Robin Rigby Worrell; son Jason Worrell (Melinda) of New Kent; daughters Jennifer Kirby (Devon) and Krystal Worrell, both of Amelia; father Bob Worrell; brothers Sonny Alexander (Pam), Travis Worrell (Mary), Russell Worrell, David Worrell (Trish) and sister Kitty Kramer (Ray), three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his mother Daisy May Worrell and sister Mildred Statts.  A memorial service at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday August 22.
