Virginia S. Jones, age 96, passed away on January 20, 2024.

Virginia was born June 27, 1927 in the Little Patrick community of Amelia County, VA to the late Joe Bob and Agnes Smith. She was one of twelve children. Ten have predeceased her-Gladys, Walter, Lena, Irene, Edith, Ruth, Glen, Carl, Doris and Bobbie. Surviving are sister Louise Poore and sister-in-law Billie Jane Smith.

Virginia graduated from Amelia High School in 1944. As president of her class, she enjoyed many reunions with her classmates. In 1947 she married Robert Lee (Bob) Jones. They were married for more than 62 years until his passing in 2009. Virginia retired from General Binding Corporation in 1989 after 25 plus years. She was a lifelong member of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church. She loved music and singing in the church choir. Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Virginia is survived by her four daughters, Judy Martin (Butch), Ginger Jones, Terry Johnson, and Robbie Barden (Larry). She was predeceased by her son-in-law, John A. Johnson. She is survived by her five grandchildren, Shelley Gillman (Gene), Hunter Barden (LiAnn), LeeAnn Scully, Cody Barden (Abby), and Caleb McRady (Rachel). She is also survived by eight great grandchildren, Sean and Daniel Gillman, Avery and Cameron Barden, Kipton Scully, Nolan Barden and a baby brother expected in June, and Iona and Isla McRady. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation with the family will be on Thursday January 25, 2024 beginning at 11:00 am at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 15409 Court Street, Amelia, VA with a service at 12 noon. A private burial will be at the Veterans Cemetery in Amelia.
