Wilmer Earnest "Jack" Akers, age 82 of Amelia, passed away on November 23, 2017.  He is survived by his wife Mary; son Timothy David Akers (Wanda) of Charlotte, NC and Amy Akers Maddox (Tom) of Amelia; sister Jean Akers Morris of Amelia; grandchildren David Akers, Joshua Maddox, Sarah Richardson, Samuel Maddox and Zachary Maddox; and one great-grandchild Camden Richardson.  He was preceded in death by his parents; Julius and and Ruth Covey Akers; and brothers Olin, Earl and Byron Akers.  The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 25 at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home, 16409 Court St. in Amelia.  A church service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Arbor Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  Contributions may be made to Arbor Baptist Church.
