Anne Myers Obituary

Anne T. Myers, 79, died peacefully at home on November 23, 2021, surrounded by her beloved family. She is survived by her husband, Samuel T. Myers, her daughter and son-in-law, Dena Ray Martin and Bruce T. Martin, Jr., her grandchildren, B. Conner Long, E. Chase Long, Anthony J. and Brittney M. Moogalian, her great-grandchildren, T. Sawyer Long, Haley N. and A. Caden Moogalion, her brother Andrew G. Butler, Jr., and many cherished extended family members. She is preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Annie and Allen Parrish, her father and step-mother, Andrew and Phyllis Butler, and her grandparents, Robert T. and Annie Heath, Jr. Born and raised in the Highland Park area of Richmond, Virginia, Anne also considered the Oakmulgee Dairy Farm in Amelia, Virginia to be a second home, where she and her dear aunt, Barbara Moyer, were more like sisters than aunt and niece. Anne fondly spoke of going to the farm in Amelia and spending time with her Moyer family as going “up-home.” Thanksgiving in Amelia was one of her favorite days of the year. Anne retired from Virginia Association of Realtors in 2008 after 25 years of service. She made many friends throughout the Commonwealth and on the national level, as she traveled extensively and planned countless conferences and meetings. She was loved and respected throughout her career for her excellence and efficiency, as well as her fun-loving spirit and sharp wit. On her 65th birthday, Anne married the love of her life, Sam, and they embarked upon the most joyous chapter of her life. They enjoyed traveling together, cruising, fishing, and going to the casino. Anne and Sam spent every summer canning tomatoes and freezing fruits and vegetables by the bushel. Known to many as “Granny,” Anne especially loved to cook for her family and friends. No one ever left Anne’s house hungry. The joys of Anne’s life were her daughter and grandsons, upon whom she doted with a fierce and boundless love. Anne was a selfless, generous, and devoted wife, friend, mother and Granny. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by many. The family will hold a memorial service at the home of Anne and Sam Myers on Monday, November 29, 2021 at 1:00 and invite friends and family to attend.
