Christine J. (Joyce) Hicks

Christine Joyce Hicks, 87, of Amelia, peacefully passed on into eternal rest surrounded by her daughters on Saturday, November 26, 2022. She proceeded in death by her parents, G. Dewey Joyce and Florence Leistra Joyce, her husband of 57 years, Willie Hicks, and her son Joseph Hicks.  She is survived by her daughters Marsha Bishop of Chesterfield, Virginia Boyles (David), and Kelly Steele (Lester) all of Amelia; along with her cherished grandchildren: Bobby Lee Golding, Christina Boyles, Danielle Boyles, Holly Steele, Jeffrey Steele, and great-grandchildren Dylan Colgin and Preston Owens.  Christine was devoted to her family and loved gardening, painting, quilting and genealogy. She enjoyed traveling the United States and Europe. Her favorite trip was to the Netherlands, where she had the opportunity to visit where her maternal grandfather was born. She was an active member of Mattoax Presbyterian Church and retired from Defense General Supply Center, Finance Center, after 30 years of service.  The family will receive friends and family at 12:00 pm on December 1,2022 with service to follow at 1:00 pm at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home. Interment will be held at Mattoax Cemetery, Amelia VA.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wreaths Across America, Amelia Veterans Cemetery or the Amelia Rescue Squad.
