Evelyn (Boyd) Lanier

Evelyn Boyd Lanier, 95, of Bogart, GA. formerly of Amelia, VA. passed away on August 22, 2023.  Evelyn was born in Rocky Mount, NC. in 1927.  She was preceded in death by her parents Myrtie and Shade Boyd, her brothers J.V. and Darrell Boyd, her son Alan Lanier and her beloved husband of 74 years Carlton Lanier.  She is survived by her daughters Anne Flippen (Billy), Gail Hutchins (Peter), her son Bob Lanier (LuGay), 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.  After raising her children, Evelyn taught biology at Amelia County High School.  She was devoted to her God, her children, and her husband.  Evelyn was an active member of Amelia Baptist Church and cherished the many friendships made there.  She taught us by example, especially servitude, spending a long life of putting the needs and wants of family and friends before hers.  Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 5th 11:00 am at Amelia Baptist Church with funeral services and reception following.  Mrs. Lanier will lie in state from 10AM  until the time of service in the church.
