James B. Banton, 82, of Jetersville, passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. James is preceded in death by his parents, Percy and Ada Banton; and his sister, Alma Smith. He is survived by his wife, Cathy; sons, Ernie (Bobbie Jo), Eugene (Tammy), Jimmy, Kenny, Kevin (Patsy) and Edward (Megan); grandchildren, Brandy, Jacob, Savanna, Tiffany, Hannah, Jake, McKenzie, Colton and Wyatt; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Breanna, Brooklyn, Savannah, Chase and Rhett; sisters, Louise (Jim) Offutt; Zannie Raker, Alice Belcher and Faye Atkins; brothers, Clyde (Linda) and Winston (Judy), and a multitude of other family members and friends. James retired from Bass Construction after being a crane operator for over 30 years. He also loved tending to his garden and hunting. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, June 11, 2021 at Sandy Creek Baptist Church. The family will host a visitation in the church beginning at 2 p.m. until the beginning of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Amelia County Christmas Parents, P.O. Box 123, Amelia, Va. 23002 or to the charity of your choice.
