Janet D'Agostino Obituary

Janet Rose Bordeau D’Agostino, 81, of Amelia Court House, VA passed from this World on September 16, 2021 of natural causes.  She was born in Winooski, Vermont and spent most of her adult life in Boston, Massachusetts, where she raised her children and built her career.  She was a devout Catholic and a firm believer in education.  She funneled her energy into Christian Education, providing a moral foundation for the youth in her communities.  She then felt a calling to work with the homeless and spent many years helping new mothers learn the skills to live on their own and raise healthy and happy children.  Finally, in her later years, Janet accepted a position with Harvard University where she led a team in the finance department.  She used all her available free time to continue teaching Christian education to the youth in her parish in Somerville, MA and spent endless hours on her true love: creating costumes for community plays and musicals.  She was a very gifted seamstress and artist.

Janet is survived by her two younger brothers Alan (Kathy) Bordeau and Edmund Bordeau of Vermont, her ex husband Ralph J. D’Agostino Sr. of Cincinnati and Amelia; Children Ralph J.  D’Agostino Jr. of Casper, Wyoming, Paul A. D’Agostino of Cincinnati, OH, Karen D. Jackman (Steven) of Amelia Court House, VA., and daughter by choice, Maura A. Drew (Jeff) of Middleboro, MA.   She was met in Heaven by her youngest grandson Oliver S. Jackman, and her infant son who died at birth Ralph Edmund D’Agostino. She leaves behind several heartbroken grandchildren and great grandchildren: David S. Jackman (Adair) and their children Ezra Oliver and Gabriel Oliver, and Granddaughter Elizabeth Patteson (Thomas) and children Hailey Mae, Rosalie Elizabeth and Delilah Jordan.   She is further survived by many loving nieces, nephews and family friends.

A Catholic Service will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Good Samaritan Church on Rte. 360 (Patrick Henry Highway) at 11:00 AM with a reception immediately following at Katie & Ollie, 16420 Court St, Amelia, VA 23002.
