Kevin Glenn Harding, 60, passed from this life peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, March 22, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lorraine Harding, and father-in-law, Joe Proffitt, all of Jetersville. Kevin is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Debbie, his two children, Morgan Gardner (Tom) and Nick Harding, his beloved Corgi, Charlie, his five siblings, Diane Coleman (David), Gwen Moler (Les), Penny Cole (Terry), Wallick Harding (MaryBeth), and Kerry Harding (Renee), his mother-in-law, Hideko Proffitt, his sister-in-law, Naoko Toguchi, as well as 19 nieces and nephews, and 30 great-nieces and nephews.
A native of Amelia, Kevin graduated as co-valedictorian from Amelia County High School in 1981 where he was very involved with Future Farmers of America and competed in many local and state FFA competitions. He then studied and graduated from Virginia Tech in 1985 with a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics. After a year of teaching math at ACHS, Kevin began his 32-year career in federal service with the United States Department of Agriculture - National Agricultural Statistics Service. Kevin was also very proud to help his brothers on their family farm, Hard Acres Farm, in Jetersville whenever possible. He loved to be outdoors, cheering on the Hokies, coaching and watching softball, traveling, and spending time with his family. Kevin will always be remembered for his shining charisma, compassionate kindness, unwavering positive outlook on life, and for the countless ways he touched so many people's lives.
Visitation will be held at Hope Chapel Church in Amelia on Friday, March 29 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 30 at 2:00pm at the Amelia County High School Auditorium followed by a burial service at Salem United Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the local Kevin G. Harding Memorial Scholarship through Citizen's Bank & Trust Company.
