Kimberly B. Smith, 40, of Amelia, Virginia went to be with The Lord Friday, July 30, 2021 after she fought a long hard battle against cancer. Kimberly was preceded in death by her father Alvin Broughton Jr. She is survived by her husband, Shannon Smith and their beautiful children Gunner-Lee and Kenlee. She is also survived by her mother, Carol Broughton and her brother, Robbie (Shannon) Broughton, a host of nieces and nephews and many family-like friends in the Southside Virginia area.
She grew up in Clayton, a small town in rural North Carolina. She was a graduate of Clayton High School and Johnston Community College in North Carolina.
Kimberly made many lifelong friends when she started working at Citizens Bank & Trust in Blackstone. She also worked at Virginia Family Dentistry in Chester before she became a stay at home mother to tend to her family and help on the family tobacco farm.
Kimberly was very passionate about her family and friends many of which came from her time spent mud truck racing along the East Coast, truck pulling across Virginia and stock car racing at Southside Speedway.
The family will gather to receive friends Tuesday, August 3rd from 6 – 8 PM. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, August 4th at 11AM at Hillsman-Hix Funeral Home located at 16409 Court St. Amelia Court House, VA 23002. A graveside service will be private for the family however they invite everyone back to their home to celebrate Kimberly’s life.

She will be remembered by all for her strength, courage and faith in her fight against a wicked disease known as Angiosarcoma.
