Mary Elizabeth Smith

Mary Taylor Smith, age 79, of Amelia, passed from this life on October 11, 2020.  She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph M. Smith; parents, William Howard and Eva Wheeler Taylor ; Sisters Charlotte Gregory (Lloyd); Betty Hawley (Charles); Rebekah Cox (Jimmy); and in-laws Walter and Vivian Smith.  Mary is survived by her sister Esther Reynolds (Rodger) and brother Daniel Taylor (Sandy); her loving adopted children Toby and Hedi Hawley; Kevin Hawley; Brian and Joy Galusha and loving adopted grandchildren Scott Hawley, Quinton Hawley; Kristen Hawley, Scott Inge; Charles Hawley; Chad Galusha and Cassidy Galusha; loving adopted great grandchildren Hannah and Kendall Hawley; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; special friend of the family and sister in-law Patti Denton; and many other dear friends in particular Connie Patrick and Mary Dalton.  Mary was retired from Myers Tire Supply where she worked as a bookkeeper for over 38 years.  She was a devoted member of Arbor Baptist Church where she had served as Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and on numerous committees.   Mary’s love for all animals attracted many strays that she cared for over the years.  The family wants to give a special thanks to Johnston Willis ICU staff for their compassion, professionalism, and respect for Mary and our family!  We also want to thank the staff at Dr. Randal West’s Office, the staff at Laurels of Willow Creek and Amelia Rescue Squad for the care provided to Mary.  The family would also like to give a special thanks to Pastor Jim Wilson for providing support over many years and much behind the scene assistance to family.  Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Arbor Baptist Church, 13701 Butlers Road, and burial service immediately following at Little Flock Cemetery.   In lieu of flowers please send donations to any animal rescue organization; Amelia Rescue Squad or Arbor Baptist Church.
