Philip Joseph Giella, 79, of Amelia, Virginia, passed away on April 17, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on September 18, 1943, in New Jersey.
Phil is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rebecca (Pat) Giella; son, Brian Giella; daughter, Tara Hodges; son-in-law, Mickey Hodges Jr; granddaughters, Melanie Hodges and Phoebe Hodges; sister, Veronica Smith; brothers-in-law, Randy Boyles and David Boyles; sisters-in-law, Cathy Redman, Nancy Boyles, and Ginger Boyles. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Sebastian (Sam) and Jean Giella.
Phil held a variety of jobs throughout the years including machinist, drawbridge operator, private investigator, and truck driver. He was an avid HAM radio operator and after 9/11 helped set up the local hospitals emergency systems to ensure that hospitals could maintain communication during disasters and emergencies, even when traditional communication channels are disrupted. He loved boating, fishing, truck pulls, flying, and riding motorcycles. He was passionate about all animals. Phil was never bored, did not sit still for long, and enjoyed visiting often with his many friends.
Services will be held at Love Covenant Fellowship on May 2, 2023. Visitation at 3 pm with memorial service to follow at 4 pm.
