Rachel Flippin McMillion, age 80, of Amelia passed away on September 28, 2015. She was the wife of the late James T. (Jimmy) McMillion. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ardice & Elsie Handy Flippin, & her sister Doris Flippin McMillion. She is survived by her brother Billy Flippin & wife Mildred, of Prospect, sister Patsy Flippin Aaron & husband Calvin, brother Tommy Flippin & wife Shirley, brother Dick Flippin & wife Mitzi, & brother Danny Flippin & wife Judy, all of Amelia. She is also survived by her son J.T. McMillion Jr & fiancée Charlene Fallen of Rice, granddaughter Bridget McMillion & fiancé Ronnie Graham Jr of Amelia, & great-grandchildren Allison & Lane Vaughan of Amelia.
An Army wife, she left Amelia in her early 20’s to live in places such as Germany, Kentucky & Maryland before returning to her hometown where she was always surrounded by a multitude of family & friends. Rachel was a member of Saint John’s UMC & the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Amelia.
Visitation will be held Thursday Oct. 1, 2015 at Hillsman - Hix Funeral Home 16409 Court St in Amelia from 6-7 pm, with a memorial service following directly at 7pm. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Box 175 Amelia, Va. in Amelia or the Amelia Rescue Squad P. O. Box 888 Amelia, Va. 23002
