HELEN ROSELAND “ROSE” ANDERSON

Helen Roseland “Rose” Anderson of Amelia, Virginia passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 19, 2020 from congestive heart failure. She was 88 years old. Born in Middlesex, VA, she was the eldest daughter of Charles and Helen Pickles, the second of four children. A graduate of Highland Springs High School, she worked at Thalhimer’s Department Store and C&P Telephone before marrying Rodney Anderson of Amelia, VA in 1955. She left the phone company to raise their daughter, Holly Renee. Later in life she ran Andy’s Convenience Store on Grubb Hill Church Road.   She attended Arbor Baptist Church in Amelia.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney; her parents Charles and Helen Pickles; and her brother Charles “Buddy” Pickles, Jr.  She is survived by her sisters, Martha Pickles of Amelia and Catherine Taylor; her daughter, Holly Renee Dentzer and son-in-law, James Dentzer; and her grandchildren, James, Jr. and Peter Dentzer.

 A family service was held March 21st followed by interment at Pine Grove Cemetery in Amelia. The family plans to hold a memorial service at Arbor Baptist Church in the near future. Memorial donations can be made in her honor to the Amelia Rescue Squad, 8930 Otterburn Rd, Amelia Court House, VA 23002.
