Thomas Chatman Reames, Jr.

Thomas Chatman (T.C.) Reames, Jr. 88, of Amelia, VA, passed away on Saturday, February 11th, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Marie Simonton; Sister, Eloise; Brother, Waverly; and son, Douglas. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Anne Ford; daughter, Lisa Watkins (Rick); daughter-in-law, Kathy; grandchildren, Tony (Lindsay), Jennifer Garza (Brandon), Kimberly Adams (Mell), Erick Watkins (Katie), Tonya Bruno (Ralph); nine great-grandchildren, Jackson, Harper, Hollis, Laurel, Baylor, Palmer, Tessa, Wheeler, and Wren.  T.C. graduated from Amelia County High School and married his wife, Anne, shortly thereafter.  T.C. has always been involved in his community, holding multiple board level positions, including the Amelia County Board of Supervisors, as well as being a founding father of St. John UMC and Amelia Academy.  T.C. and Anne ran a successful dairy for decades and Reamford Liquid Fertilizer, Inc. where T.C. was still actively supporting and working, even at 88.  He will be remembered for his kind and generous heart, as he was always willing to lend a helping hand when a friend, neighbor or loved one was in need. T.C. had a welcoming and curious spirit that always made him up for an adventure. He was always ready to take a trip with his family and friends (bonus points if it involved a cruise or Caribbean water) and to share his lake house with all.  T.C. was often found checking the county’s crops with his beloved wife. T.C.’s love, patience, and talents were demonstrated most through his love of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as he never missed a special event or ball game and was always willing to teach his family, as his talents ranged from teaching children to water ski to restoring cars and tractors to mastering wood-working.  T.C. was a man of extreme faith, raising his family in church, and praising God through his beautiful singing voice in the choir. His kindness and love will be missed by all.  Funeral services will be held at 2:30PM on Wednesday February 15, 2023 at Arbor Baptist Church with burial following in the Amelia Presbyterian Cemetery.  Visiting at Arbor Baptist Church beginning at 12:30 on Wednesday prior to the funeral.
